Level 2 Pages

Structuring content across detailed, nested pages

Level 2 pages sit one level below the Level 1 navigation pages and are typically used for workflows, detailed views or supported content. This layout provides a similar structure to Level 1 with some additional features such as breadcrumbs and additional contextual navigation.

Overview

Level 2 layouts often appear as subpages linked from a primary section and are ideal for managing related content or multi-step processes. They inherit some structural elements from Level 1 pages but incorporate additional features to identify the hierarchy, such as breadcrumbs and additional page-side navigation.

Layout structure

The layout structure or 'anatomy' of level 2 pages is designed to allow a mixture of content container types but must contain the main navigation and primary header. They will contain the following ordered structure:

  • Header: This is the main header area with a title. A page action is strongly encouraged in this section, though some exceptions may apply where it's not required.
  • Content: The main content area of the page.
  • Side Navigation (optional) - contextual to the page content and properties or workflow
